Sales Manager

About Country Natural Beef
Country Natural Beef is a rancher-owned cooperative founded in 1986 and now the largest ranching co-op in the western United States. With nearly 100 family ranches across nine states, the organization is built on a shared philosophy: leave the land better than you found it. The co-op is dedicated to producing premium beef raised without antibiotics or added hormones, while advancing regenerative ranching practices that support soil health, animal welfare, and rural communities.

Position Overview
The Sales Manager is responsible for growing revenue within an assigned book of business while actively prospecting and winning new accounts. This role serves as the primary commercial point of contact for assigned customers across retail and foodservice channels and is responsible for keeping existing business and adding new business. This is a hands-on selling role for someone who wants ownership of a territory, enjoys building long-term customer relationships, and is motivated by finding and closing new opportunities for a values-driven brand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the revenue, volume, and margin targets for an assigned book of accounts and territory
  • Prospect, qualify, and win new retail and foodservice accounts that align with the brand’s premium and sustainability positioning
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers, managing day-to-day needs, order flow, and issue resolution
  • Develop pricing and promotional proposals for assigned accounts and submit them to the Director of Sales for approval
  • Build annual and quarterly account plans with clear growth targets and report progress against them
  • Partner with Inside Sales on weekly demand forecasting and forward holiday and promotional planning
  • Support carcass utilization by promoting the full product portfolio and balancing item mix across accounts
  • Spend time in the field with customers and share observations on market dynamics, competitive activity, and customer positioning
  • Prepare for and participate in category reviews and customer business reviews with data-driven recommendations
  • Communicate quality issues promptly to the Inside Sales and Operations teams and follow through to resolution
  • Review sales data to identify gaps and opportunities within the territory and adjust account strategy accordingly
  • Collaborate with marketing, operations, and supply chain to execute promotions and new item launches
  • Maintain accurate account records, pipeline, and forecasts, and keep the Director of Sales current on both risks and opportunities

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of sales or account management experience, ideally in meat sales. Strong candidates from other proteins, food, CPG, or agriculture will be considered.
  • Demonstrated success in both new account acquisition and growing existing accounts
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Working knowledge of retail and/or foodservice sales channels
  • Understanding of perishable supply chain networks, cold-chain logistics, food safety/USDA regulations, and agricultural commodity market dynamics
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills
  • Organized and self-directed, with the ability to manage a territory independently in a remote work environment
  • Comfortable working with sales data, spreadsheets, and CRM tools to inform decisions
  • Willingness to travel as required (estimated 50%)

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary depending on experience
  • Goal-based bonus structure
  • Company-sponsored medical, dental, and vision, with 90% coverage of premiums covered for you and your dependents
  • 401(k) with a guaranteed Safe Harbor plus a discretionary profit-based contribution
  • Fully remote with travel to customers and company events
  • Opportunity to help scale a mission-driven, producer-owned brand
  • Collaborative culture rooted in sustainability, transparency, and long-term partnerships
