Merchants Market is seeking a driven and customer-focused Outside Sales Associate with a culinary background to join our growing team. This role combines culinary expertise with sales excellence to help customers succeed, build lasting relationships, and drive business growth throughout St. Thomas and St. John.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize culinary knowledge to recommend products and solutions that meet customer needs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with restaurants, hotels, and foodservice customers.
- Generate new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, and customer referrals.
- Manage customer accounts, process orders, introduce new products, and resolve service issues.
- Conduct regular customer visits to strengthen partnerships and identify growth opportunities.
- Monitor account performance, pricing, margins, and accounts receivable.
- Consistently achieve sales goals while delivering exceptional customer service.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five (5) or more years of sales experience, preferably in foodservice, hospitality, or a related industry.
- Food sales experience required.
- Culinary arts experience required.
- Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Strong communication, organizational, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
- Bilingual skills preferred.
- Valid U.S. Passport and ability to travel as needed.
