The Supplier Quality Specialist will initiate and maintain quality oversight of suppliers, vendors & manufacturers of ingredients and services. The position reports to Director of Quality and will be responsible for providing disposition on whether suppliers, vendors, & manufacturers meet quality standards as designated by Allen Flavors.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages all aspects of the vendor approval process
- Reviews and approves Corrective and Preventative Actions for any exceptions from suppliers (CAPA)
- Provides reports, data analysis and ensures flow of communication between Quality & Purchasing Departments and external suppliers/customers including following up on and resolving issues that arise
- Works closely with Purchasing Department to coordinate vendor approvals, equipment purchases, and contractor approvals
- Negotiates supplier agreements/contracts/quality agreements when beneficial by working with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers to reach agreement on contract terms and conditions
- Provides risk disposition for each vendor as well as maintaining their scorecard in ERP system and periodic review of vendor status
- In conjunction with Quality and Purchasing Departments, evaluates and monitors quality and reliability, as well as the ability to support required delivery schedules
- Oversees the database and metrics of suppliers within SEDEX program and flags high risk suppliers
- Completes Supplier data for metrics and risk management documents
- Conducts on-site or virtual audits as appropriate based on risk assessment of vendor
- Maintains Vendor / Item relationship in ERP system
- Responsible for managing Quality/HACCP review of new ingredients as well as alternate vendors to current ingredients
- Responsible for review of suitability of new equipment or clothing that will have food contact
- Manages the annual review and maintenance of contractor approvals for any site service providers
- Ensures that appropriate documentation is provided to all necessary stakeholders and ensures that proper receipt is recorded
- Supports Supplier Quality projects working with Process Improvement team as needed
- Willingness to travel to conduct audits as needed
- Other tasks and projects assigned by Director of Quality
Requirements
Education:
Must have one of the following:
- High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 7 years of applicable experience in Supply Chain Quality
- Bachelor s degree with a minimum of 3 years of applicable experience in Supply Chain Quality
- Master s degree with a minimum of 1 year of applicable experience in Supply Chain Quality
Experience:
Experience in a food related business with database or document management system. Must have experience in a food and/or beverage QC system with an understanding of best practices regarding procurement of safe good quality food from ethical sources. Food safety knowledge and quality management skills are needed.
- Preventative Controls Qualified Individual training preferred, with working knowledge of Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) principles and expectations, including in depth understanding of Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP).
- GFSI experience helpful to understanding SQF requirements
- Auditing experience is a must

- High level of expertise in Microsoft Powerpoint, Office, Excel, Word
- Familiarity in Microsoft CRM & SharePoint
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and follow-up skills.
