Job DescriptionProject Manager Edible Beans - Casselton, NDPosition SummaryThe Project Manager is responsible for supporting and managing capital and operational projects from concept through completion. This role works closely with operations management, commercial leadership, procurement, contractors, subject matter experts, and divisional management to ensure projects are properly scoped, approved, funded, executed, and completed on schedule.
The Project Manager will manage project initiatives through the WAVE process,
Local and Global Invest Board requirements, create and manage AFEs, coordinate RFQs and contractor selection, and provide on-site project support as needed. This role also supports long-term project planning by developing and monitoring the divisional project pipeline.
Estimated travel for this position is 20-25% annually.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management and WAVE Process- Work in conjunction with operations management to create, update, and manage project initiatives throughout all project stages, including RG0 through RG5 in Wave.
- Track project status, timelines, documentation, approvals, risks, and key milestones throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure project information in WAVE is accurate, current, and aligned with approved scope and funding requests.
- Monitor project progress and proactively communicate risks, delays, or scope changes to appropriate stakeholders.
- Local and Global Invest Board Support
- Prepare FEL documents and/or one-page project summaries as required based on total project spend.
- Present project information or support operations management during meetings with Local and Global Invest Boards.
- Ensure project documentation clearly supports the business case, project scope, cost estimate, timeline, and expected benefits.
- Assist with responses to questions or follow-up requests from investment review boards.
AFE Creation and Management- Create and manage Authorization for Expenditure, in partnership with the operations management team.
- Ensure required MOC documentation is created and appropriate subject matter experts are assigned based on project scope, including but not limited to:
- Safety
- Environmental
- Engineering
- Operations
- Maintenance
- Other required technical or compliance functions
- Review and/or include all applicable quotes, FEL documents, business case summaries, and supporting documentation on the AFE.
- Verify that the AFE is accurate and matches the requested amount in WAVE.
- Track AFE progress through approval and ensure stakeholders are informed of status and next steps.
Contractor Qualification and Compliance- Ensure contractors are approved and in good standing in ISN prior to
quoting process and project work commencing.
- Confirm contractors meet ADM installation, safety, quality, and compliance requirements.
- Work with regional and location operations management to evaluate contractors based on previous ADM work, industry reputation, capability, safety performance, and overall fit for the project.
- Request for Quote Process
- Work with the procurement team to identify and select a minimum of three qualified contractors eligible to complete the work when possible.
- Ensure contractors selected for RFQ meet ADM installation requirements and are approved to perform the necessary scope of work.
- Include ADM subject matter experts as required for the equipment or systems being installed.
- Coordinate RFQ documentation, scope clarification, walkthroughs, contractor questions, quote review, and award recommendations.
- Support consistent, fair, and well-documented contractor selection processes.
Quote Review, Approval, and Rewarding Work- Review submitted quotes with divisional, procurement, subject matter experts, regional and location management.
- Approve or support approval of selected quotes based on project scope, cost, contractor capability, and business needs.
JDE Budget and PR / PO Process- Create and upload the JDE budget template in conjunction with the AFE process.
- Verify that the appropriate location contact responsible for creating purchase orders is notified once the budget is approved.
- Work with regional and location management to ensure purchase orders are entered correctly and in advance of work being completed or equipment being ordered.
- Ensure the location contact enters the required purchase requisitions and/or purchase orders for the contractors awarded the work.
- Monitor the purchase requisition and purchase order approval process to ensure approvals are completed in a timely manner.
- Ensure clear communication between sites and contractors once purchase orders are approved.
- Help prevent work from beginning before appropriate approvals, funding, and purchase orders are in place.
- Verify invoices are processed accurately and timely once work is completed.
- Work with location management, procurement, accounts payable, and contractors as needed to resolve budget, PO, invoice, or payment issues.
- On-Site Project Management
- Provide on-site management and coordination for larger or more complex projects.
- Coordinate installation planning with operations and commercial management.
- Meet with contractors during initial facility and design walkthroughs.
- Review initial project start-up plans and assist with on-site coverage, especially during critical phases of the project.
- Monitor project progress against approved scope, schedule, cost, and safety expectations.
- Verify projects are progressing within the timeframes established during the approval process.
- Notify divisional management of expected delays, scope concerns, budget risks, or execution issues as they are identified.
Monthly Project Review Meetings- Conduct monthly project review meetings with key stakeholders.
- Review all current projects and provide updates to the broader team.
- Communicate project status, key milestones, cost updates, risks, delays, and required decisions.
- Maintain visibility to active projects and ensure alignment between operations, divisional leadership, procurement, and other support teams.
- Divisional Project Pipeline Development
- Develop, maintain, and monitor the divisional project pipeline.
- Complete and review 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year project analysis with all locations.
- Assist divisional management in ranking projects as high, medium, or low priority based on the overall needs of the group.
- Support long-term capital planning, resource planning, and project prioritization.
- Identify common needs, recurring project types, cost trends, and opportunities for improved execution across locations.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Operations Management, Project Management, or a related field preferred.
- Prior experience managing capital projects, operational improvement projects, construction projects, or industrial facility projects preferred.
- Experience working with operations teams, contractors, procurement, safety, environmental, and engineering resources.
- Familiarity with capital approval processes, AFE creation, project stage gates, and investment board presentations preferred.
- Experience with project management systems, capital tracking tools, procurement systems, and contractor compliance platforms preferred.
- Knowledge of WAVE, ISN, MOC, FEL, RFQ, AFE, and PO processes is strongly preferred.
Required Skills and Competencies- Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects across various stages of development and execution.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work across operations, management, procurement, contractors, and technical teams.
- Ability to read, understand, and review project scopes, contractor quotes, business case summaries, and cost documentation.
- Strong attention to detail, especially related to project costs, approvals, documentation, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to identify project risks and communicate issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Strong follow-up skills and ability to drive accountability across cross-functional teams.
- Ability to facilitate meetings, present project updates, and summarize complex project information clearly.
- Working knowledge of contractor safety, site coordination, and industrial project execution.
- Ability to travel to project locations as needed.
Travel Requirements- Estimated travel is 20-25% annually.
- Travel may include site visits, project walkthroughs, contractor meetings, installation support, project reviews, and divisional planning meetings.
Preferred Experience- Experience in agricultural processing, industrial manufacturing, food processing, bulk handling, construction, maintenance, or operations environments.
- Experience managing projects involving equipment installation, facility modifications, safety improvements, environmental compliance, or process improvements.
- Experience working with regional and location operations teams.
- Experience supporting capital planning and multi-year project pipeline development.
- PMP, CAPM, Lean, Six Sigma, or related project management certification is a plus.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
If hired, employees will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
The pay range for this position is expected to be between:
$104,100.00 -
$195,300.00
Salaried Incentive PlanThe total compensation package for this position will also include annual bonus and a long-term incentive plan
