Senior Process Engineer
Overview
The Senior Process Engineer will play a key role inoptimizing, designing, and implementing high-speed filling, packaging, and processing systemsin a manufacturing environment. This hands-on position focuses on improving operational efficiency, product quality, and overall system performance while supporting capital projects, equipment upgrades, and process innovation.
The ideal candidate will havestrong technical expertise in filling and retort systems, packaging solutions, and processing equipment, along with experience collaborating across operations, project management, R&D, quality, and supplier teams. This role requires someone who cantranslate operational challenges into engineering solutionsand ensure new systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and ready for production.
Key Responsibilities
Process Optimization & System Engineering
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks in filling, retort, and packaging processes
- ImproveOverall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), reduce waste, and enhance product quality
- Define and develop equipment requirements for high-speed filling and packaging lines
- Recommend technologies and equipment to support new business needs
- Act as a subject matter expert for process and packaging systems
Project Support & Execution
- Participate in all phases of projects: concept, proposal, installation, commissioning, and startup
- Specify processing equipment that meets project requirements, timelines, and budgets
- Provide technical guidance to operations, packaging engineers, project managers, and other teams
- May serve as project manager on specific initiatives as needed
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure all processes comply with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions (CAPA, NCRs) related to filling and packaging equipment
- Support internal quality and innovation teams in process design and validation
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with operations, project management, R&D, quality, sales, and marketing teams
- Partner with multiple equipment suppliers to ensure technical compliance and timely delivery
- Support development of processing systems and solutions for customer and consumer applications
Travel & Work Environment
- Occasional travel to vendors and manufacturing sites
- On-site work in a plant environment with heavy equipment, noise, dust, and industrial conditions
- May require work on weekends or extended periods on-site
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Biochemical, Process Engineering, or related discipline
Experience
- 7–10 years of experience in process or packaging engineering in manufacturing
- Experience with filling systems, retorts, pasteurization, or high-speed packaging equipment
- Strong knowledge of process equipment, material handling, and operational optimization
- Project management experience and familiarity with contracts, schedules, and project lifecycles
