We are working with a growing food manufacturer in the Cortland, NY area that is looking for an experienced, hands-on Maintenance Manager to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a growing manufacturing facility, leading a maintenance team while remaining actively involved in troubleshooting, repairs, and equipment reliability. The ideal candidate will bring strong mechanical and electrical maintenance experience, PLC troubleshooting knowledge, and a willingness to roll up their sleeves and work alongside their team to keep operations running efficiently.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a maintenance team while remaining actively involved in daily maintenance activities.
  • Oversee preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and minimize production downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and automated manufacturing equipment, including PLC-controlled systems.
  • Work alongside maintenance technicians to diagnose equipment failures and implement effective, long-term solutions.
  • Develop and improve preventative maintenance schedules, procedures, and documentation to support a growing facility.
  • Partner with production and plant leadership to prioritize maintenance activities and support operational goals.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reduce downtime, and increase overall plant efficiency.
  • Support equipment installations, upgrades, and facility expansion projects as the company continues to grow.
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with company safety policies, food safety standards, and applicable regulations.

Required Skills/Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within food or beverage manufacturing.
  • Previous maintenance leadership or supervisory experience with the ability to lead a team while remaining hands-on.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills with experience maintaining manufacturing and production equipment.
  • Working knowledge of PLC systems with the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues; programming experience is not required.
  • Experience developing and executing preventative maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues independently and provide technical guidance to maintenance technicians.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Comfortable working in a smaller, growing manufacturing environment where flexibility and a hands-on approach are essential.
  • Willingness to participate in rotating weekend on-call coverage as needed.
