Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician positionis responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repair production equipment, machinery, and facility systems to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous plant operations. This position supports production while following food safety, quality, and workplace safety standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performpreventive maintenance on production equipment and machinery
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and production maintenance request
- Inspect equipment to identify potential problems and prevent downtime
- Assist with equipment installation, modifications, and improvements
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, GMP. HACCP, and safety procedures applicable
- Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), power industrial truck, scissor lift, harness/fall protection procedures when performing maintenance
- Processes maintenance downtime report to corporate and plant management.
- Conducts pre-operational inspections and handles maintenance concerns of production supervisors to make sure operation begins as scheduled
- Work 40+ hours per week in all areas of the plant
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- Previous industrial maintenance experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair production equipment
- Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment
- Ability to read equipment manuals,technical documents, and schematics
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced food manufacturing environment
- Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, weekend, or different shifts as needed
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb as required
- Ability to lift and move materials and equipment within company guidelines
- Ability to work varying temperatures and manufacturing environments
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
Work Environment
- Food manufacturing operations environment
- The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions, extreme cold and working near moving mechanical parts
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area
