Job Description
SUMMARY
Responsible for the operation of assigned production department in a profitable and efficient manner through proper utilization of assigned manpower, materials, equipment, and space. Responsible for coordinating all activities within his/her scope of control and for setting priorities necessary to accomplish predetermined goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluates employees based on performance set forth in the evaluation guidelines. Recommends candidates for hire, promotion, demotion, transfer, or release.
Observes production operation within area of control to ascertain compliance with quality, safety, production standards, work rules, and efficient operation of equipment. Takes corrective action to eliminate any deviation.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises the production shift. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization?s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
LEVEL OF AUTHORITY
The Production Supervisor has the authority to shut down production equipment to prevent the production defective product and place product on hold if it does not meet the customer/company specification
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor?s degree or equivalent; three to five years experience in production environment, preferably in plastics production. Combined experience may be considered.
Language: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Strong Computer Skills needed
