The production supervisor is responsible for managing production processes in the plant. The supervisor has full responsibility for reviewing production schedules and assigning resources and people to meet the needs of production. The supervisor has knowledge of all equipment and equipment operations, job tasks and hazards related to each of the tasks and equipment. The supervisor provides direction through leading by example, ensuring that all safety and food safety policies are implemented and practiced every day. Time is spent monitoring and observing employees during operations and ensuring they are meeting these requirements. The production supervisor is held accountable for achieving required production schedules and managing overall cost and efficiency for daily production.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage production workers to ensure smooth & efficient operations across all production shifts, including meeting the manufacturing specifications and quality standards.
Oversee daily production processes to meet schedule requirements, including monitoring of production quality, yields, and schedule fill accuracy to achieve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Assign resources, equipment, and personnel to meet production goals, adjusting as necessary to accommodate changing priorities.
Identify production issues, provide quick responses, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and improve processes.
Observe and guide employees during operations, ensuring adherence to JHA (Job Hazard Analysis), JTP (Job Task Procedures), and SOP requirements.
Monitor and evaluate employee performance, providing guidance and training to ensure adherence to safety protocols, food safety standards, and GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices).
Ensure that all food safety policies, sanitation procedures, and health and safety regulations are strictly followed by all production workers.
Collaborate with maintenance and other departments to ensure that all equipment is functioning properly and safely.
Conduct regular inspections to monitor the quality of products and the efficiency of production processes.
Lead by example in promoting a positive work environment focused on teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
Prepare required reports on production performance, employee productivity, and any issues that need to be addressed.
Performing other assigned tasks as needed.
Requirements
Proven experience in food production or manufacturing supervision, preferably in a meat processing environment
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to managing production challenges.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet production deadlines
Proficiency with equipment and technique
Post-secondary education and or related experience in a similar field.
