JOB SUMMARY:
The Dishwasher / Receiver is responsible for receiving, inspecting, checking in, and storing food and supply deliveries from vendors. This role ensures deliveries are accurate, products are handled and stored properly, and inventory is rotated to maintain freshness, food safety, and product availability for daily kitchen operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receive and check in food, beverage, and supply deliveries from approved vendors.
- Verify deliveries against invoices, purchase orders, and packing slips to ensure quantities and items are accurate.
- Inspect products for quality, freshness, proper temperatures, damage, and expiration dates.
- Report missing items, incorrect orders, damaged products, or other delivery concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Transport and store deliveries in designated refrigerators, freezers, dry storage areas, and supply locations.
- Rotate inventory using the first-in, first-out (FIFO) method to ensure older products are used before newer stock.
- Check existing inventory for expiration dates, product quality, and proper storage.
- Maintain organized, clean, and sanitary storage areas.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, temperature control, and proper food handling procedures.
- Assist with dishwashing and general kitchen cleaning duties as needed.
- Communicate inventory shortages and supply needs to the Executive Chef or designated supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to read invoices, packing slips, labels, and product information.
- Ability to follow food safety procedures and proper inventory rotation practices.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, kitchen staff, and supervisors.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Previous experience in receiving, inventory, food service, or a warehouse environment preferred but not required.
- Ability to check deliveries for accuracy and identify product quality concerns.
- Basic organizational and recordkeeping skills.
Physical Requirements
This position requires standing and walking for extended periods throughout the shift. Team members must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks that involve bending, reaching, stooping, carrying supplies, stocking products, and cleaning work areas. The ability to work safely and efficiently in a busy food service environment is essential.
