As we continue to scale our production and expand our retail footprint, we are seeking an experienced FSQA leader to champion our food safety standards and uphold our commitment to excellence.
Position Summary
The Head of Food Safety and Quality Assurance will oversee, maintain, and elevate the food safety and quality management systems across our manufacturing and distribution networks. This role is critical in ensuring regulatory compliance, mitigating risk, and maintaining the exceptional product quality our customers expect. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with a strong background in GFSI schemes, regulatory affairs, and high-growth food production environments.
Core Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance:Ensure all manufacturing processes, facilities, and products comply with local, state, and federal regulations (FDA, USDA, etc.).
- Quality Management Systems:Oversee, update, and audit the company’s FSQA programs, including HACCP, HARPC, GMPs, and sanitation protocols.
- Supplier & Vendor Management:Manage the quality assurance pipeline for raw materials, packaging, and co-manufacturing partners.
- Continuous Improvement:Utilize data-driven insights to optimize production quality, reduce waste, and streamline FSQA workflows.
- Audit Readiness:Lead the preparation and execution of internal, third-party, and regulatory audits (SQF, BRC, or similar GFSI certifications).
- Team Leadership:Cultivate a robust culture of food safety across the organization, providing guidance and technical expertise to cross-functional teams.
Qualifications
- Experience:7+ years of progressive experience in Food Safety and Quality Assurance within the food manufacturing industry (frozen food or commercial bakery experience preferred).
- Education:Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related technical field.
- Certifications:PCQI and HACCP certifications are highly preferred; deep familiarity with GFSI standards is required.
- Skills:Exceptional analytical problem-solving skills, strong project management capabilities, and excellent cross-functional communication skills.
