Education/Experience
- Required Education:Bachelor?s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Certifications:ASQ Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
- Experience:8+years of experience in the CPGmanufacturing industry, with 3+ years of demonstrated achievement in a Quality Leadership role.
- Skills:Strong background in Lean Six Sigma, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Integrated Work Systems (IWS). Proficiency in statistical analysis, Design of Experiments (DOE), Pareto charts, and histograms. Experience implementing ISO Standards.
Position Summary
The Plant Quality Manager serves as the quality advocate for the plant, ensuring compliance with specifications for incoming materials, in-process conditions, and finished products. This role focuses on reducing quality attribute variation through Statistical Process Control (SPC) and acting as the primary point of contact for customer quality issues. The Plant Quality Manager is also responsible for safety leadership, maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS), and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Assurance:Ensure compliance with quality specifications for materials, in-process conditions, and finished products. Utilize SPC methodology to reduce quality variation and enhance product acceptance by customers.
- Safety Leadership:Act as a safety leader, prioritizing safety in all responsibilities. Collaborate with the EHS Manager to establish and maintain safety policies and programs.
- Quality Management System:Provide hands-on management of the QMS, including quality action plans, customer complaints, internal holds, standard work, audit processes, document control, test methods, and quality test equipment.
- Training & Compliance:Ensure quality management system training is conducted. Align plant systems with corporate standards through reviews and audits.
- Reporting:Generate scorecards and reports on plant quality, including Voice of the Customer (VOC), Corrective Action Requests (CARs), Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs), Certificates of Analysis (COAs), SPC reporting, and audit results.
- Customer Interaction:Independently manage customer interactions related to product or service quality. Identify and promote awareness of customer requirements for the plant.
- Statistical Analysis:Conduct advanced statistical analysis and evaluate process capabilities for both process and product quality.
- Team Management:Manage and train the Quality Team, supporting their development and performance.
- Continuous Improvement:Actively participate in and lead continuous improvement initiatives. Establish and promote a culture of continuous improvement in Quality.
- Leadership Team:Serve as an active member of the plant leadership team, contributing to strategic and operational decisions.
