SummaryThe Packaging Operator tends, maintains, and adjust machine that stock, fill, wrap, seal and label bags with finished product.
Key Responsibilities- Ensures there is no injury to self or others by following safe work practices (including Standard Operating Procedures) and policies.
- Food safety is everyone's responsibility
- Attend and participate in all training activities for the position and ensure the acquired skills and knowledge are applied.
- Monitors and metal detectors are tested and fully functional.
- Monitors check-weigher kickoffs and notifies managementof concerns when necessary.Controls packaging weights for main line or specialty products.
- Reads and understandstraining materials, and other information related to the job and complete paperworkina timely, efficientmannerso the paperwork is thorough and legible.Must be able to enter data intocomputer.
- Monitorsand ensuresquality of bag condition, proper codes, case condition,glueconditionandmetal detector checks. Recyclesproductfrom faulty packaging.
- Responsible for cleanliness of work area and equipment and ensures work area meets company standards for cleanliness of work area.Responsible for data entry for sanitation into MMS.
- Ensurematerials are supplied and loaded for all equipment on the assigned line.
- Responsible for operatingand performing adjustments to packaging equipment.(i.e., unclog packaging machines, changingpaper,testing, and scale vibrator cleaning.)
Typical EducationHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Relevant Experience- Must have completed the Job Skill Evaluation successfully
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, divisions and calculate percentages to make proper adjustment as required
- Must have an acceptable safety record.
- Must have an acceptable attendance record.
- Knowsanduseslockout/tagout procedures whenrequired.
- Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision.
