FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary: The Warehouse Tempering Manager oversees all warehouse operations within a USDA-regulated frozen meat storage/tempering facility. Responsible for safely and efficiently overseeing the tempering of frozen meat and food products using microwave tempering equipment and established company procedures.  Provide hands-on leadership to warehouse staff, enforcing food safety and USDA regulatory standards are met. Support microwaving workflow through efficient management and coordination ensuring products are tempered to the required temperature and condition while maintaining product quality, food safety, traceability, and USDA regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead, supervise and train warehouse employees on food safety compliance, warehouse procedures, product handling, and equipment operation
  • Provide performance coaching, corrective action, and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Supervise staging and movement of product ensuring accurate order picking, loading and shipment of finished goods to prevent cross-contamination and maintain cold chain integrity
  • Oversee receiving raw meat, packaging and supplies ensuring proper inspection, documentation and storage
  • Verify product identification, lot numbers, quantities, and production before processing
  • Ensure proper FIFO rotation of all meat product and monitor inventory
  • Properly identify and maintain product traceability throughout the tempering process
  • Operate microwave equipment safely and according to company procedures
  • Monitor product temperatures using calibrated thermometers or other approved equipment
  • Ensure product is tempered to the required specifications without compromising product quality or safety
  • Prevent cross-contamination by following proper product handling and sanitation procedures
  • Maintain accurate tempering records temperature logs, production records, and other required documentation
  • Monitor cooler and freezer storage areas to maintain required temperature standards
  • Load & unload frozen meat product into and from the tempering equipment
  • Inspect product for damage, contamination, improper packaging, or other abnormalities and report concerns immediately
  • Follow product segregation and identification requirements
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues when appropriate, follow machine guarding and equipment safety requirements and follow lockout/tagout procedures
  • Maintain awareness of moving equipment, conveyors, pallets, forklifts and other workplace hazards
  • Enforce facility safety policies, OSHA regulations, and equipment safety procedures
  • Participate in accident investigations and root-cause analysis when needed
  • Ensure proper operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, dock equipment and temperature monitoring devices
  • Assist the workflow by operating pallet jack, carts, scales or other material handling equipment as authorized and trained
  • Follow all sanitation requirement for equipment and surrounding work area by maintaining a clean and organized work area throughout the shift

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Business Administration or related field preferred
  • 5-8 years of experience in warehousing, manufacturing or USDA regulated environments
  • 2-4 years of leadership experience in a supervisory or management role
  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing, meat processing, refrigerated warehouse, production or similar environment preferred.
  • Operating microwave tempering
  • Working with frozen meat or food products
  • Using temperature monitoring equipment
  • Warehouse or production scanning systems
  • Operating a forklift is a plus
  • Supervisory experience needed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, and USDA food safety requirements
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detain and accuracy
  • Fully Bi-lingual (Spanish/English)

Working Conditions:

  • This position is primarily performed in a frozen warehouse environment
  • Exposure to cold temperatures, wet or slippery floors, noise, moving equipment, forklifts, conveyors, and industrial machinery
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
  • May occasionally lift up to 25-50 lbs.
