Main Ingredients of the Job!As aUS FOODS® Router, you will be responsible for scheduling and sequencing delivery routes in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner using computerized routing programs such as RoadNet and Mainframe.

This position plays an important role in supporting transportation operations by building cost-effective routes, maximizing delivery efficiency, and ensuring customer delivery needs are met.

Schedule:
  • Monday through Friday
  • 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM
  • Schedule and hours may vary based on business needs.
  • Overtime may be required.

Pay: $24.00 per hour.

Great Routers are crucial to the US FOODS® team and play an important role in our transportation operations. Our Routers strive for integrity and reliability while building trusting relationships with Transportation, Sales, and Warehouse departments to ensure efficient deliveries and excellent customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Utilize routing software to match customer orders to appropriate delivery loads and assign them to trucks.
  • Balance trailer loads based on product size, weight, and pallet configurations to maximize efficiency.
  • Build cost-effective delivery routes while maintaining customer delivery requirements.
  • Work closely with Transportation, Sales, and Warehouse departments to determine delivery feasibility.
  • Prepare and maintain daily routing reports, including route change requests, sequence change requests, and new customer requests.
  • Maintain accurate routing information and system parameters within RoadNet, Mainframe, and other transportation systems.
  • Review routing information for accuracy and make necessary adjustments to support efficient delivery operations.
  • Communicate routing updates and changes to appropriate departments.
  • Identify routing challenges and work with transportation leadership to resolve issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

What You Bring to the Table

Education/Training:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Related Experience/Requirements:
  • Minimum of six months of routing experience required.
  • Experience working with computerized routing systems preferred.
  • Experience in transportation, logistics, distribution, or warehouse operations preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong computer skills, including data entry, general report generation, spreadsheets, and data management.
  • Ability to use routing software to organize and manage delivery routes.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve transportation-related issues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Transportation, Sales, and Warehouse teams.
  • Ability to work scheduled hours and overtime as business needs require.

Work Environment
  • Primarily office-based, supporting daily transportation and distribution operations.
  • Frequent communication with transportation leadership, delivery drivers, warehouse associates, and sales teams.
  • May occasionally require interaction with warehouse operations.


Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law.The expected base rate for this role is $24.00 per hour.

This role will also receive overtime compensation, as applicable.
