Education/Experience
- Required Education:Bachelor?s degree or equivalent work experience in warehousing/logistics.
- Experience:5+ years of experience in a fast-paced Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) environment.
- Leadership Experience:5+ years of leadership experience in a unionized setting.
- Financial Acumen:Understanding and experience with financial processes, including budgeting.
Position Summary
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing all warehouse operations, including loading and unloading of inventory, managing budget controls, and ensuring adherence to health, safety, and food quality standards. This role involves direct leadership of warehouse personnel, development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives, and coordination with third-party suppliers to ensure efficient and effective warehouse management.
Key Responsibilities
- Health & Safety Compliance:Adhere to all health and safety policies, procedures, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Ensure compliance with food quality and food safety standards, including Safe Quality Food (SQF) requirements.
- Warehouse Operations:Oversee the loading and unloading of inventory and products. Manage warehouse activities, establish and maintain budget control, and resolve stock issues.
- Team Development:Develop and improve team performance by setting clear goals and objectives. Train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate warehouse personnel, fostering a team atmosphere.
- Supplier Relations:Maintain strong relationships with third-party suppliers through regular meetings and address any issues promptly.
- Performance Monitoring:Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as accuracy, performance, output, and efficiency. Provide feedback to relevant managers.
- Operational Efficiency:Ensure good housekeeping, accurate stock counts, and efficient movement of stock using pallet trucks or forklifts. Plan and execute logistics needs with trucking firms to minimize freight costs.
- Logistics Management:Negotiate trucking contracts, manage stock destruction and aged stock removal processes, and ensure timely pick-up and delivery of shipments.
- Problem Resolution:Review and resolve operational problems to minimize costs and prevent delays. Monitor damaged product orders and returned product status.
- Policy Development:Develop and implement policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent quality and operational efficiency.
- Regulatory Compliance:Ensure compliance with DOT and other safety regulatory agencies. Maintain material handling equipment and ensure warehouse personnel are certified on equipment.
