Job Overview
As a Class A CDL Driver for UNFI, you will deliver palletized products to corporate and independent retail stores. The essential functions and basic duties include performing pre- and post-trip inspections utilizing knowledge of safe and effective loading and handling procedures. Drivers are also responsible for delivering and unloading products, reviewing paperwork for completeness and accuracy, checking orders, completing required documentation, entering trip data into onboard systems, and completing applicable logs.
Here Is What You Will Be Doing
Deliver and unload products using equipment including tractor-trailers, ramps, lift gates, pallet jacks, load bars, and other delivery devices.
Operate vehicles safely within UNFI guidelines and in compliance with applicable DOT/FMCSA regulations, minimizing accidents, traffic violations, and complaints from the public.
Perform required pre- and post-trip inspections; keep vehicles safe, secure, and well maintained, and promptly report defects.
Report accidents immediately to the Transportation Manager/Department in accordance with UNFI procedures.
Pick up supplies and backhauls from vendors while completing related paperwork.
Ensure customer orders arrive in quality condition and correspond accurately to the initial order and delivery documentation.
Communicate professionally with customers and vendors and address customer problems as appropriate.
Who Should Apply?
Education / Certification
Current Commercial Driver?s License, Class A.
Valid medical card as prescribed by the Federal Motor Carrier Administration.
Ability to pass required driver assessment(s) and road test.
Required Skills and Experience
Must have a minimum of one year of verified tractor-trailer driving experience.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Basic knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) law and mandates and understanding of UNFI?s safety standards.
Effective written and verbal communication skills with good time-management and organizational skills.
Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
