Job Summary
As aProcurement - Purchasing Agentat Field Fresh Foods, you will play a key role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement offresh produce, raw materials, packaging, supplies, and other goodsneeded to support our operations. You will work closely with suppliers and internal departments to maintain appropriate inventory levels, manage purchase orders, monitor market conditions, and ensure materials meet our expectations forquality, cost, availability, and service.
The ideal candidate is astrong negotiator and analytical problem-solverwho thrives in a fast-paced environment. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to balancecost, quality, inventory, and changing operational demandswhile developing strong supplier relationships.
What You?ll Do
- Purchasefresh produce, raw materials, packaging, supplies, and other productsrequired to support daily operations.
- Create, process, and managepurchase orders, ensuring accuracy of quantities, pricing, specifications, and delivery requirements.
- Monitorinventory levels, usage, forecasts, and production requirementsto determine purchasing needs and prevent shortages or excess inventory.
- Develop and maintainstrong supplier relationshipswhile ensuring expectations for quality, pricing, availability, and service are consistently met.
- Negotiatepricing, terms, lead times, and other purchasing conditionsto achieve competitive costs and favorable business terms.
- Monitormarket conditions, commodity pricing, seasonal availability, and supply trendsthat may impact purchasing decisions.
- Source and evaluatenew and alternative suppliersto improve cost, quality, service, and supply continuity.
- Compare supplier quotes and conductcost and pricing analysisto support informed purchasing decisions.
- Coordinate withProduction, Operations, Sales, Quality, Receiving, and Financeto ensure materials are available when needed.
- Track open purchase orders and communicate with suppliers regardingdelivery schedules, shortages, substitutions, and delays.
- Work with internal teams and suppliers to resolvequality, quantity, pricing, receiving, and invoice discrepancies.
- Assist with managingproduct substitutions and supply interruptionswhile minimizing disruption to operations and customers.
- Maintain accuratepurchasing records, supplier information, pricing, and supporting documentation.
- Analyze purchasing and supplier data usingExcel and other reporting toolsto identify trends, savings opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Identify opportunities to improvepurchasing processes, inventory management, cost control, and supplier performance.
- Support company initiatives related tocost savings, waste reduction, quality, and operational efficiency.
What You Bring to the Table
?Experience:Previous experience inprocurement, purchasing, supply chain, inventory management, produce, food manufacturing, or a related fieldpreferred.
?Purchasing Skills:Understanding ofpurchase orders, supplier management, inventory requirements, pricing, lead times, and purchasing processes.
?Negotiation Skills:Ability to effectively negotiatepricing, terms, availability, and service expectationswhile maintaining positive supplier relationships.
?Analytical Thinking:Ability to evaluatepricing, inventory, usage, market conditions, and supplier performanceto make sound purchasing decisions.
?Technical Skills:Strong proficiency inMicrosoft Exceland experience working with ERP, purchasing, inventory, or supply chain systems.
?Communication Skills:Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively withsuppliers and internal departments.
?Problem-Solving Mindset:Ability to respond quickly toshortages, changing demand, supplier issues, and other supply challengeswhile developing practical solutions.
