What You'll Do- Purchase
dry grocery items from national and regional suppliers
- Track
market trends, pricing shifts, and commodity movement
- Negotiate
pricing, freight, terms, and delivery schedules
- Maintain
optimal inventory levels while minimizing shrink and aging
- Evaluate
suppliers, pack sizes, and product alternatives
- Partner
with category management on mix, promotions, and private label
- Build
strong supplier relationships and resolve quality or fill-rate issues
- Support
sales, operations, and warehouse teams on product needs and handling
- Communicate
market updates and supply disruptions
- Use
ERP/procurement systems to manage orders, pricing, and inventory
- Analyze
data and prepare reports on cost trends and category performance
What You Bring- High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience purchasing dry/extended shelf-life groceries (ingredients, condiments, canned foods, etc.).
- Strong understanding of specifications, supplier relationships, and market dynamics within non-perishable grocery categories.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and vendor-management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/procurement systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and make timely decisions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with close attention to detail.
