- Bi-Lingual (English and Spanish) is preferredJOB DESCRIPTION:Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a dairy operation in Texas who is searching for an experienced Herd Manager. The Herd Manager will be responsible for overseeing the health and well-being of the dairy herd and the employees who work closely with the cows on a daily basis. This person will ensure that the cows are cared for each day and handled with care and respect. In addition, it is the Herd Manager's responsibility to incorporate the culture and core values of the dairy into the daily operations of the business.

Herd Management
  • Herd Health
    • Keep the Cows Healthy and Comfortable
    • Work with Employees to Make Sure Sick Cows are Found Timely
    • Ensure that Treated Cows are Following Treatment Protocols
    • Utilize AFI and SCR for Health Monitoring
  • Fresh Cows
    • Ensure the Fresh Cow Team is Treating Timely and Correctly
    • Monitor Fresh Cow Performance
    • Assist with Fresh Cows in the Parlor
  • Close-Up and Dry Cows
    • Manage the timing of Cow Movement from Far-Off to Close-Up pens
    • Work with Employees to Dry Cows off each Week
    • Monitor pHs, Overcrowding, DMI in these Pens
  • Maternity
    • Work with Maternity Team on Calf Delivery
    • Ensure all Calves follow Newborn Protocols
    • Keep area Clean and Comfortable for Cows and Calves
  • Reproduction
    • Work with the Veterinarian at Pregnancy Check each Week
    • Oversee and Execute the AI Program and Synchronization Program
    • Work with Breeding Team to Follow Sire Selection Compliance
  • Other
    • Manage the Cow Movements to Keep Pens at Desired Levels
    • Oversee the Beef Cow Shipments and Records
    • Assist with Cattle Movements
Employee Management
  • Work with the Dairy Manager on Hiring and Firing Employees within Your Departments
  • Manage and Train Employees to do Their Own Daily Jobs
  • Provide Feedback to Employees through Constant Communication
  • Assist with Monthly Employee Meetings, Reviewing Goals and Results
Other Responsibilities
  • Assist with Relief Schedule for HPD Management
  • Meet with MGT and Nutritionist During Nutritionist Visits
  • Work with the Veterinarian at Pregnancy Checks
