Director of Customer Development

Position Summary

The Director of Customer Development is responsible for building profitable sales with retail customers nationwide. This position is also responsible for managing all aspects of the business including travel if needed, management of brokers, developing customer relations, representing the company at various food and trade shows, and submitting reports of results.

Essential Functions

  • Directs and manages the implementation of customer contracts, announcements, and promotions, setting sales objectives and standards, completing deductions and bill backs.
  • Maintains customer relationships by presenting promotional opportunities, attending food shows and other events and performing other duties as required.
  • Gains new accounts by making cold calls, conducting research into new accounts, sending product samples, meeting with contacts and performing other duties as required.
  • Develop and maintain sales materials and current product knowledge.
  • Manage account services through quality checks and other follow-up. Identify and resolve client concerns.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Position Requirements

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of regional/territory sales experience,specifically related to retailers.
  • Proven track record of sales in theretail food marketplace, preferably artisan bread.
  • Driven sales and marketing acumen. Energetic, proactive, takes calculated risks, and perseveres to attain goals.
  • Must possess an extensive knowledge of sales, business development and budget analysis capabilities with a demonstrated ability to apply these principles and methods through strategy and tactics.
  • Experience in sales planningand execution.
  • Position may require extensive and the willingness to work a flexible schedule
