Assistant Financial Controller

We are an establishedHouston-area international grocery export companyspecializing in American consumer brands and serving more than 30 international destinations.
We are seeking an experiencedAssistant Financial Controller ready to grow into the Financial Controller role. This position will work directly with our current Financial Controller as part of a planned leadership transition. Over approximately9 12 months, the selected candidate will learn our business and systems with the expectation of assuming full responsibility for the Financial Controller role. Our current Controller will then transition intoInternal Audit and Information/Data Systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
- Manage and oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable staff.
- Support month-end and year-end closing and financial reporting.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure accounting compliance.
- Work closely with the Financial Controller and senior management.
- Streamline processes and leverage technology to improve business operations.
Education, Experience & Skills
- Bachelor?s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience; supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, general ledger, and month-end close.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability and desire to transition into the Financial Controller role.
